Q. How does Titan work?
A: Titan utilizes a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface. This heating can cause immediate collagen contraction. During the procedure, the skin’s surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece. After the procedure, new collagen growth results in further tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with less lines, folds or looseness of the skin.
Q: What is the Titan Difference?
A: Titan employs light energy because it provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources such as RF (radio frequency) used in Thermage.
Q: What areas respond best to the Titan procedure?
A: Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the abdomen, back of the upper arm, along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure.
Q: Who can be treated?
A: Since the titan procedure is heating tissue under the skin’s surface, patients of any skin type can be treated. Men and women of all ages have been successfully treated. The nursing staff and Dr. Gold can advise you if Titan is right for you.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: A single treatment has produced very good results for some patients; however, it is best to assume that three or four treatments will produce the results you desire. The nursing staff and Dr. Gold will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.
Q: What happens after the treatment? Are there any side effects?
A: Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours. Consult with The nursing staff and Dr. Gold for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
Q: When will I see results?
A: Some patients see results immediately. However, for most patients, the results are gradual over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed and the skin tightens.
Q: What do treatments feel like?
A: With each Titan pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Many patients are comfortable without anything. The nursing staff and Dr. Gold will advise you.
Q: Has the Titan been tested and approved?
A: The Titan has been carefully studied in clinics around the world. It is cleared for the treatment of wrinkles in Europe and for general dermatologic use in Canada. In the US, it cleared for topical heating to increase local tissue temperatures and circulation. An additional 510(k) clearance is pending in the US for us to actually say it for the treatment of wrinkles.
Q: How much does the Titan treatment cost.
A: Like all our other treatments, the cost depends on the extent of the area to be treated. Titan treatments cost less than and are less painful than Thermage and are much less invasive and much less costly than incisional plastic surgical procedures.
